In the interest of disclosure, I own one Assassin's Creed game (Black Flag) and I've logged a whopping two hours on it. This doesn't exactly qualify me to speak to the reverence that the new Assassin's Creed trailer pays to the source material or obviously the quality of the finished product, but having seen my fair share of really crappy video game adaptations (BloodRayne anyone?) they can typically be spotted by about the time the studios announce the projects.
Given that the film's star, Michael Fassbender, has had an impressive track record for picking quality projects since popping up on my radar in 2009's Inglorious Bastards (Jonah Hex notwithstanding), I am all-the-more comforted that he seems to have taken a special interest in steering Assassin's Creed to the screen. He even earns a full Producer credit here.
While this first trailer does very little to shed light on the plot, it does seem from my vast knowledge of the game, to be tonally spot-on. Check it out below and sound off in the comments. I'd love to know what all of you AC fans out there think.
